2022 World Cup Results Switzerland vs Cameroon: Score 1-0

The Swiss national team successfully started their journey at the 2022 World Cup with a victory. Facing African representatives, Cameroon on Thursday (24/11/2022) afternoon, Switzerland managed to win with a narrow score of 1-0.

Switzerland's winning goal was scored by their striker, Breel Embolo early in the second half.

Thanks to this result, Switzerland topped the 2022 World Cup Group G standings with 3 points and Cameroon must be at the bottom of the standings.

The match, which was held at Al Janoub Stadium, was exciting from the start. Switzerland took control of the match early in the first half.

Cameroon itself is not standing still. Even though it was difficult to control the ball, Rigobert Song's men appeared to be threatening through their counterattacks.

Despite having the ball, Switzerland struggled to create dangerous chances. Played long balls, but Breem Embolo always lost in duels with Cameroonian defenders.

While Cameroon actually appear more dangerous. With through balls, Choupo-Moting often slipped past the Swiss defenders, but unfortunately he failed to fire a dangerous shot. In fact, Mbeumo forced Yann Sommer to make a save to thwart his shot in the 30th minute.

Switzerland's new dangerous opportunity was born at the end of the first half through Manuel Akanji's header. But unfortunately his header was still wide so that the score lasted 0-0 until the referee blew the whistle signaling the end of the first half.

At halftime the two coaches did not make substitutions. The course of the match also did not change much from the first round.

But just three minutes into the game, Switzerland finally broke the deadlock. The striker, Breel Embolo took advantage of Xherdan Shaqiri's bait from the right and the unguarded striker fired a low shot which Onana failed to parry. Switzerland won 1-0 over Cameroon.

Cameroon immediately acted on the goal. Choupo-Moting and friends began to increase the intensity of their attacks, but they often failed to get past the dense Swiss defense raised by Manuel Akanji. In the 58th minute, Choupo-Moting fired hard but Sommer easily saved the shot.

Cool attacking, Cameroon almost conceded in the 67th minute. Similar to the scheme for the first goal, this time Vargas, who was not guarded, fired hard in the penalty box. But the difference this time was Onana swiftly broke the opportunity.

A few minutes before the scatter, Switzerland almost scored again. This time, Xherdan Shaqiri fired hard from outside the penalty box but Onana again managed to break the opportunity.

Buying and selling attacks continued, but the score lasted 1-0 for Switzerland's superiority.
